Workshop topics and leaders

On Saturday, March 9th all conference participants are given two chances to participate in selected workshops lead by wonderful women both from Latvia and USA. Check them out!

Mirror, mirror...

While working with women and talking to them over the cup of tea, I have noticed that for us, women, the most captivating activity is continuous growth and improvement. To do more, to love more, to learn more, to dress-up more, to take on more responsibilities in church, to organize more, to worry more and also to get tired more. When we get tired, we think about how to rest more, love ourselves more and live healthier, to accept ourselves more and at the end we start thinking about how impossible it is to accomplish all that.

Practical information about conference

Here you can find information about participation fee, conference venue and other practical details regarding the conference.

The main speaker Shelly Cook Volkhardt

Bridge Builders Internatinal founder and president Chuck Kelley:

I am very happy to introduce a very special woman, Shelly Cook Volkhardt, who is coming to Latvia in March 2013. I have known her and her husband since the first week of our first year of university, forty years ago. At that time it was already obvious that she had an extraordinary gift of encouragement. No matter whom she was with she listened, empathized and spoke uplifting words. I had never met anyone like her...until I met mother, Muriel Cook, one of the most interesting and authentic public speakers I had ever heard.

The conference team

Gita Medne

It is an honor to serve God as the superintendant of Methodist Church in Latvia, also pastoring Riga’s 1st church. My passion is to help Latvian women in their life realities to understand that they are dear, beautiful and valuable in God’s eyes. That God has given each of us special gifting and that God wants us to blossom like flowers. I have spent many years in United States of America and can bring a different life experience and life discoveries into this team.

Sarah Ilsters

I am the Assistant Regional leader of The Salvation Army in Latvia and I am the pastor of one SA corps (church) in Riga. My passion is for women to find their purpose, freedom and fulfillment in Jesus. To be honest, I am not usually into having separate gatherings for men and women, but I believe that God is going to use the time we are together as his daughters to speak clearly into our life situations and so I wanted to be part of the team - to see this happen.

Līga Amata

My professional life has to do with organizing visits, conferences, events and meetings, in my free time I serve in the monthly magazine in our church (Rīgas ev.lut. Jēzus draudze). My heart is burning for young women to be aware of their beauty, to gain healthy self-esteem, to learn to love themselves and to able to form good relationships. That is the reason I joined the team, and I see this as a chance to make a difference!

Anete Kozlovska

I was born on September 22nd, 1979. I’ve been writing and performing my own songs for more than 15 years now. I’m a mother of my 6 year old daughter Kate and a wife to my husband Uldis (also a musician). For about 10 years now I am one of the worship leaders in Riga Reformed Church and lately God has given me a chance to write worship songs for my church and has put it into my heart to search opportunities to serve more deeply and personally with this gift He has given me. Therefore I have joined the team organizing this conference with great joy and great expectations for I believe that God wants to love and strengthen us – Latvian women - in a special way during this time! We all need this very much. Let’s see and taste how good our Lord is!

Vineta Zāle

I work as a office manager and accountant for „Partneri” and also practice translations from and into German and English. I believe women want to be noticed, honored and loved. Just as the men do! I got intrigued by Shelly and the topics she will speak about. I believe many will gain if we can raise women’s self-respect and help them to sense their God-given calling in their lives. Besides that, I like this team very much!

Inese Riekstiņa

For more than 10 years I was a part of Latvian Christian student fellowship (LKSB) in Vidzeme and also in Latgale, for past few years also serving in countryside of Latgale. At the moment I’ve returned to Daugavpils and will work with children. There are many women in our country in all ages who haven’t really experienced the freedom to be feminine, often having to fight for something and suffer quietly, starting with fatherlessness and ending with lack of bread on the table and wood to burn in the middle of Winter.. Reading Shelly’s book and seeing not only her wisdom and godliness, but also good attitude, makes me want to become like that and bring at least a little encouragement and blessing to each woman I meet. I see this conference as an opportunity to grow in this and to experience something new.

Baiba Ozolinkeviča

I am a mother to my seven children. I am a wife to my husband, who is a pastor. I am a woman who likes to meet such wise, such capable, such beautiful, such tired and confused women waiting for an encouraging word. We will definitelly receive and be able to give again!
